Silver jewellery will naturally tarnish over time. In order to keep your jewellery in its best condition, follow these easy tips to maintain and care for your beloved pieces.

We recommend removing jewellery when you swim and particularly when on the beach, in the sea and in chlorinated water. Otherwise, your jewellery may be subject to permanent discoloration. Additionally, the chemicals in chlorinated pools can weaken the metal.

Avoid spraying perfume or applying creams directly onto your jewellery as this will tarnish the metal. Regular contact with chemicals found in everyday substances like hairspray, lotions, perfumes, or other cosmetics can also corrode the alloys in metal. Just make sure to apply your make-up and spray perfume before putting on your jewellery.

To maintain the sparkle of your jewellery, rely on a lint-free or microfiber cloth. To remove stubborn oil and grease stains, use a few drops of dishwashing liquid and warm water. Use a soft-bristle toothbrush to clean between the prongs and gently pat dry. Avoid using paper towels to polish as it can be abrasive to metals.

Finally, store your CARAT* jewellery pieces in their fabric pouches or lined boxes to minimize scratches and tangled chains.
